CELEBRATING IPHONE 10 YEARS OF EXISTENCE WITH A NEW TRICK DISCOVERED
Today marks the ten year anniversary of the iPhone. It's come a long way since it was first released into the world, but no matter how long we use them, we'll never stop discovering tips and tricks we never knew existed. In honor of this very special birthday, we went looking for the weirdest, most obscure iPhone tricks, and they totally blew our minds thanks to one particularly helpful Reddit thread.
"This is a very basic tip but it saves me time." writes one user. "Tapping '123' then tapping the character you want then finally clicking back to the main keyboard can be a hassle. Instead hold down "123", slide thumb to character you want to use then let go. The character will be inputted and your keyboard will be back to normal." That gets rid of a ton of hassle.
There are also a bunch of quick tips, like "tap chunk of text w/ 2 fingers to highlight the whole thing" and "change the direction of the panoramic photo by tapping the line."
Another tip you maybe didn't think of is to add a shortcut for your email address so you don't have to type the whole thing out every time you're filling in a form.
Finally, if you want more security, consider using a PIN number that's more than four digits. "By turning off 'Simple Password' and choosing only numbers instead and NO letters. You will get a number keypad to unlock the phone instead of a full keyboard. And you can use as many numbers as you would like and you you have to press OK to enter it."
Already, it's like we have a whole new phone. You can check out more little-known tricks over here.

THE MYSTERY BEHIND GALAXY S7 Edge vs IPHONE 6S IN 9 HOURS OF COCA COLA ...
We already know that both Samsung and Apple integrated waterproof or at least water resistant designs into both of these smartphones.
This time out the person in the video decides to test both of these phones with frozen Coca-cola. What got me amazed is that this video was how the man poured very hot water on them to remove them from the frozen coke.
In the end, the Galaxy S7 Edge survived both the frozen coke and the very hot water. I’d wager it’s a bit sticky after the fact though. The battery of the Galaxy device even lasted the whole ten hours it was encased in frozen soda. It takes a bit of work to get the iPhone out of the coke ice in the video. Once removed from the frozen brick, the iPhone 6S Plus wouldn’t turn on.
The question was if it was dead from the battery running out of power or from Coke getting into the device. The iPhone was still wet when he plugged it in making me worry about shorts, but the iPhone did take power and survived the freezing in Coke test. The phone did act a bit oddly and has a bit of a screen issue.

GLOBACOM IS NOW ON MOBILE 4G/LTE NETWORK ACCESS
Globacom has rolled out Nigeria’s first commercial world-class nationwide mobile Fourth Generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE) network across the six geo-political zones simultaneously. This follows a successful multi-dimensional test-run of the advanced network consistent with its numerous pioneering roles in Nigeria’s telecommunication industry.
With this development, telecommunications subscribers in several parts of key cities in Lagos, Port Harcourt in Rivers State, Abuja in the Federal Capital City, Jos in Plateau State, Warri in Delta State, Eket in Akwa Ibom State, Benin City in Edo State, Yola in Adamawa State and Zaria in Kaduna State can immediately connect to Glo 4G LTE network, while rollout to other major cities of the country will happen in quick succession in the days ahead.
The Glo 4G LTE, which is the country’s first nationwide network implementation, is offering instant efficient broadband internet to millions of Nigerians at speeds multiple times faster than the 3G network, enabling subscribers to download ultra high definition videos in seconds.
This major milestone will enable Globacom to offer its subscribers data intensive applications, and will particularly be great news to individuals who consume huge volumes of data, as well as government and corporate organisations like banks, oil and gas companies, academic institutions and health institutions, which rely exclusively on seamless data transfer for their operations.
Kamaldeen Shonibare, head, corporate sales, Globacom said “We are pleased to once again play a leading role in empowering Nigerians with world class data services, helping to close the digital divide. In the last one and a half years, the people of this great country have spoken repeatedly by making Globacom the largest data network in new subscriptions.
“The best we can do for our people who believe in us and made us their number one data network is to give them the best technology. What we are offering is the new speed of life,” he said. With the launch of 4G/LTE services, Globacom has unveiled a wide range of hard-to-beat 4G data bundle offers to enable all categories of subscribers to have access to the revolutionary products and services.
The benefits include free access to thousands of music, video and movie on demand. For instance, for only N500, subscribers will get a whopping 1.6GB of data, while N1000 will give them 3.2GB data. Other exciting offers include 7.5GB for N2000, 10GB for N2,500, 18GB for N4000 and 24GB for N5000. The data plans range from N50 to N18,000 to suit everyone’s pocket.
Globacom is also offering a brand new 4G LTE router which gives access to Ultra High Speed Internet and landline, with free SIM, 60Gb of shareable data valid for a month and free world-class content for a one-off fee of N31,000. For those who prefer MiFi, Globacom is bundling its 4G MiFi with free SIM, 60Gb of shareable data valid for one month and free world-class content for a one-off fee of N25,000.
Shonibare said the Glo 4G LTE services would make life more interesting, comfortable and enjoyable for Nigerians as the advanced technology would touch all aspects of life from education to agriculture and medical care.

INVASION OF A POWERFUL ANDROID 7.0 NOUGAT
Android 7.0 Nougat: a more powerful OS, made for you
Today, we’ll begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat
to Nexus devices. And with more ways to make
Android your own, it’s by far our sweetest release yet.
We took a different approach to building and
launching Nougat this year. For starters,
we invited developers to take a sneak peek
at Android N back in March, so they could
bring their apps to the new platform earlier.
And of course we asked you to help us
come up with names for this year’s release,
resulting in lots of great ideas, and adelicious
unveiling back in June.
Android Nougat reflects input from thousands of fans
and developers all over the world. There are over
250 major features in Android Nougat, but we wanted
to highlight a few of the features you’ve been most
excited about.
More personal
Providing more ways to customize your phone to fit
your personality is kind of a big deal, and Android
has been leading the way since day one (Homescreen widgets, anyone?). With Android Nougat, you’ll have
even more ways to make your phone your own, including:
- Expanded emoji: There are now over 1,500 different emoji built into Android, including 72 new ones, so go ahead: express yourself.
- Quick Settings controls: Quick Settings gives you easy access to things like bluetooth, WiFi and the all-important flashlight. With Android Nougat, you can actually control what tiles go where, and move ‘em around to fit your needs.
- Multi-locale support: Apps can tailor their content based on your locale settings. So if you speak multiple languages, for instance, then search engines can show results in each of those languages.
Whether you’re responding to work emails or making
plans with friends, Android Nougat helps you multitask
with ease with new features like Multi-window,
Direct reply, and Quick switch.
- Multi-window: Run two apps side-by-side. The windows are resizable, too, by simply dragging the divider.
- Direct Reply: Reply directly to notifications without having to open any app.
- Quick Switch: Switch between your two most recently used apps by simply double tapping the Overview button.
Split-screen
Starting with the release of Android Marshmallow
last year, we have been making the battery smarter.
That’s why we made the Doze feature even dozier
with Android Nougat. Your device can now drop
into lower power usage when it’s getting jostled
around in your pocket or bag while on the move.*
More immersive
Android Nougat is designed with immersive
experiences in mind—including support for
VulkanTM (an advanced 3D rendering API) and
Daydream (Google’s platform for mobile virtual reality).
- VulkanTM: Games will now leap to life thanks to high-speed, next-generation graphics — all powered by your device’s multi-core processor.
- Daydream: Android Nougat is ready to transport you to virtual worlds with Daydream-ready phones, headsets and controllers — all coming later this year.
As always, Android is built with powerful layers
of security and encryption to keep your private
data private. For new devices coming this fall,
we’ve also added new features like Seamless
updates, File-based encryption and and Direct Boot.
- Seamless updates: New Android devices with Nougat can install software updates in the background which means you won't have to wait while your device installs the update and optimizes all your apps for the new version. And for current Nexus users, software updates now install much faster, so you won't have to wait for minutes while your device reboots.
- File-based encryption: Android Nougat can better isolate and protect files for individual users on your device.
- Direct Boot: Direct Boot helps your device startup faster, and apps run securely even before you unlock your device when your device reboots.
And for those of you who also want to use your
Android device at work, there are also new security
features for using Android in enterprise, which you
can learn more about on the Android for Work website.
Coming soon, to a device near you
Today, and over the next several weeks, the Nexus 6,
Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C
and General Mobile 4G (Android One) will get an
over the air software update** to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Any devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program
will also receive this final version.
And there are many tasty devices coming from our
partners running Android Nougat, including the upcoming LG V20 which will be the first new
smartphone that ships with Android Nougat, right
out of the box. You can learn even more about
Android Nougat atwww.android.com/nougat.
BEWARE OF EXPLOSIVE GALAXY NOTE 7 - HINT ON HOW TO GET A NON-EXPLOSIVE ONE
Samsung's latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7, is prone to exploding. Once the flaw was discovered, Note 7 sales were halted, but that move only came after millions of devices were shipped to consumers and retail outlets. Samsung is now faced with recalling millions of potentially dangerous devices, and it's up to consumers to identify the potentially explosive devices from the non-explosive ones. Communicating this to every Note 7 customer is turning into a challenge, as a few days after the recall a Note 7 apparently burned down a customer's Jeep.
If you're shopping for a Galaxy Note 7, Samsung has announced a new bar code label for the box that will let you know your new device is not explosive. The new packaging is shown above, which Samsung says has "clear identifiers on the box; a small black square on the white bar code label along with a white sticker with a blue letter ‘S’."
That new packaging requires you to have the box handy, though. If you want to know if an unboxed Galaxy Note 7 has been repaired, things are a little more complicated. Samsung says that next Tuesday, September 13, the company will launch an online IMEI database that will let customers type in their device's unique ID and lookup if it has been fixed. On the Galaxy Note 7, the IMEI number is located on the bottom of the device next to the USB port. Customers can also call Samsung customer service to have their device identified.
Samsung has also issued an official statement on why Note 7s are exploding. Earlier charging-based speculation seems to be wrong—the issue is with the battery shorting out. The company says, "Based on our investigation, we have learned that there was an issue within the battery cell. An overheating of the battery cell occurred when the anode-to-cathode came into contact which is a very rare manufacturing process error."
If you have a pre-recall Note 7, Samsung recommends powering it down immediately and seeking a replacement.
LG TAKES THE MULTIMEDIA MOBILE EXPERIENCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH V20
SEOUL, Sept. 7, 2016 — LG Electronics (LG) today unveiled the V20, the latest in its V series of smartphones, delivering the highest multimedia capabilities available in a mobile device. The V20 boasts new features including Steady Record 2.0, Hi-Fi Quad DAC, HD Audio Recorder and front and rear wide-angle lens cameras to deliver best-in-class performance. It is also the world’s first smartphone to come preloaded with Android 7.0 Nougat OS and the new Google In Apps phone search function.
The LG V series is a premium flagship smartphone line designed to provide users with the best video and audio experience. LG looked at the customers of the V10 and examined what they wanted and needed and determined that the V20 should be developed with “storytellers” in mind – for anyone who has something to say, anyone who has an experience to share.
Delivering Share-worthy, Crisp, Clear Videos
Steady Record 2.0
The LG V20, powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820 processor with X12 LTE, introduces Steady Record 2.0, leveraging Qualcomm Technologies’ electronic image stabilization (EIS) 3.0 to record sharper video footage while neutralizing shaky images. The gyro-based EIS improves sync accuracy between the image and the gyro by reducing sync latency to only 50 microseconds. EIS is complemented by digital image stabilization (DIS) which further improves video quality in post-processing by adjusting objects across frames and minimizing distortion caused by rolling shutter for smoother action.
Hi-Fi Video Recording
LG V20 owners can record Hi-Fi videos and manually control the settings for perfect audio quality using options such as Low Cut Filter (LCF) that removes unwanted background noise and Limiter (LMT) that sets recording distance. The LCF reduces background noise while the LMT zeroes in on voices the user wants to record. The V20 also captures audio using 24-bit / 48 kHz Linear Pulse Code Modulation (LPCM), the same format used in professional video equipment.
The Purest Audio Experience
Hi-Fi Quad DAC
The V20 is the world’s first smartphone to feature a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, powered by ESS Technology, designers of high-performance audio products. Powered by ESS SABRE ES9218, the Quad DAC in the V20 delivers clearer sound by minimizing distortion and ambient noise by up to 50 percent. With 75-stage fine volume and L/R balance controls as well as support for lossless music formats including FLAC, DSD, AIFF and ALAC, the V20 delivers high-quality sound to any pair of earphones.
HD Audio Recorder
The HD Audio Recorder represents the next level of sound recording. This feature lets users capture studio quality audio with a wider dynamic frequency range using three high AOP microphones to record incredible sound that surpass audio recordings on conventional smartphones. With Studio Mode, manually control sound with easy-to-use keys similar to ones found in video cameras and use Music Recorded to create high quality audio suitable for auditions by recording singing voices over existing music.
In an effort to further enhance audio functions and design, LG continues its collaboration with B&O PLAY. The result in the LG V20 is a natural, balanced sound, reflecting B&O PLAY’s acoustic engineering philosophy.1
Capture It All and More
Front/Rear Wide Angle Lens
The wide angle capabilities of the front and rear cameras capture photos with an inclusive background, meaning users get more in the frame and leave nothing out. The 5MP front camera with a 120-degree lens expands the selfie experience to take bigger pictures with even more friends. The 8MP rear camera with its 135-degree lens is perfect for taking pictures in front of a gorgeous vista or inside a gigantic stadium. The large aperture standard angle lens captures sharp images at a maximum of 16MP with its 75-degree lens.
Auto Shot
The Auto Shot Function on the front camera produces perfect selfies with its face detection feature, which triggers the shot when the subject is ready and smiling. There is no need to press the shutter button, which usually increases camera shake and the likelihood of a blurred shot.
Hybrid Auto Focus
The V20’s Hybrid Auto Focus (HAF) ensures a sharp picture every time. A fast and stable auto focus is delivered in any environment by integrating three AF mechanisms – Laser Detection AF, Phase Detection AF and Contrast AF – for both videos and photos. The V20 determines if LDAF or PDAF is best for a particular shot and then refines the focus with Contrast AF. Users can take full advantage of the V20 when capturing sharp images of friends or family in action, in any lighting conditions.
Gives You More of What You Love
Second Screen
The popular Second Screen feature that was first introduced on the V10 has improved in visibility. With double the brightness and 50 percent larger font size compared to the V10, the smaller display located above the main display allows users to easily view notifications and alerts in outdoor situations at a glance.
Now with the Expandable Notifications feature, users can tap a button on the Second Screen to enlarge notifications in order to check long messages at a glance and quickly send a reply or share information.
LG UX 5.0+
The LG V20 comes with the mobile user interface LG UX 5.0+ to make it easier to use the multimedia functions tailored to customer needs. The LG UX 5.0+ is an upgraded version of the LG UX 5.0 first introduced on the LG G5. It is also the world’s first smartphone interface to run on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The LG V20 also features Multi-window to display two apps at once in a split screen allowing users to drag text, images, and files from one app to another. The combination of these advancements together with the 5.7-inch main IPS Quantum Display offers the best in multitasking capabilities.2
In Apps
The LG V20 is the world’s first phone to showcase Google’s In Apps. The new search mode featured in the Google app, helps users find content not only from built-in apps including contacts, emails, text messages and photos, but also from user-installed apps. It also enables users to discover recently accessed apps, people to get in touch with, messages to read or activity across apps without having to type a query.
Premium Design in a Durable Body
Premium Materials
To achieve both a sophisticated look and solid durability, LG uses lightweight aluminum, together with a new silicon-based material. AL6013 metal, found in aircraft, sailboats and mountain bikes, was selected to cover the back of the phone due to its sturdy but light properties. If dropped, the top and bottom of the phone are protected from damage by Silicone Polycarbonate (Si-PC). This innovative material, found in helmets, reduces shocks by more than 20 percent compared to conventional materials.
Durability
The LG V20 has also passed the MIL-STD 810G Transit Drop Test for durability conducted by an independent laboratory that conforms to U.S. military standards. The test determined that the V20 could withstand shocks and still function when dropped repeatedly from a height of four feet and landing in various positions, including the front, back, sides and corners.
“The LG V20 is designed to offer customers a more dynamic experience by building on the most popular video and audio features of the V series,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company. “With the LG V20, we are giving our customers more of everything they love and less of anything they don’t need to set a new standard for premium smartphones.”
The LG V20 will be available in Korea starting this month followed by other regions. Information regarding other markets and launch dates will be announced locally in the weeks to come.

Telegram Allows You to Make Gif Images and More; Now Supports Android 7.0 Nougat
New entrants don't often cause the big players to respond, but when the product is developed by Google - it should not come as a surprise. After the launch of Google's Allo, it seems like WhatsApp and Telegram are competing to win over customers with new additions to their text-messaging applications.
With the latest update to its app, Telegram allows you to draw on your photos, as well as add masks, stickers, and text to them. You also get to make gif images using the app's 'mute' feature after recording a video. You can now also get access to trending stickers directly from the 'stickers panel' in any of your chats, the company said in its changelog for the update.
Importantly, the application has also finally added support for Android 7.0 Nougat with the latest update. You can get the update from either Google Play or the App Store, depending upon your mobile platform.
The company has further launched a platform that allows users to upload their own sets of masks, beards, glasses etc.
WhatsApp recently included new emojis, similar to the ones introduced with iOS 10, to the beta version of its Android app, specifically, v2.16.274. Further, the company is expected to add passcode protection to its chats soon.
Google launched its text-messaging app Allo earlier this month and the app has already been downloaded more than a million times from Google Play. Even though the app has been criticised by the likes of Edward Snowden for lack of privacy, it has been praised for the artificial intelligence, which allows it to make appropriate suggestion for quick replies.

HOW TO CONFIRM THE SAFETY OF SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 7
Samsung's new site lets you enter an IMEI number to see if a Galaxy Note 7 is affected. If you're not familiar with your IMEI then you can find this by entering *#06# into the phone app, or from the box a Note 7 was supplied with. Samsung is also introducing a green battery icon on safe Galaxy Note 7 devices. The battery icon will change from white to green on the status bar, the always on display screen, and the power off prompt screen. Samsung is also marking new Galaxy Note 7 devices with a square symbol on the packaging of the box.
Samsung's green battery icon will likely do little to deter the FAA and airlines from advising passengers not to bring Galaxy Note 7 devices on planes. Samsung may have fumbled this global recall on multiple occasions, but if your device is affected then you should return it to Samsung immediately. It's simply not worth risking personal injury or loss of property

How to unlock your iPhone from all the major UK mobile networks
If you want to move to a new mobile network and carry on using your existing iPhone, you may have hit a snag if it’s locked to a particular network, it’ll need to be unlocked before it will accept your new SIM. If you’re scratching your head as to how to break your iPhone’s shackles, this handy guide contains all the information you need to know.
How to tell if your iPhone is locked
Not sure if your phone is locked? Well, one easy way to find out is to just pop out your existing SIM and try the new one. If you bought your iPhone direct from an Apple Store, it should be unlocked by default, so swapping between SIMs from different networks is quick and easy – you shouldn’t even need to restart your phone.
If your phone doesn’t play ball, however, then it may throw up error messages such as “Invalid SIM”, or “No SIM card installed”. If this is the case, it doesn’t mean that your phone is locked – this can just be iOS throwing a fit – so sometimes it’s just a simple case of flicking airplane mode on and off, restarting the phone or just cleaning and reseating the SIM card. Alternatively, go to Settings | General | About and tap “Check for a carrier settings update”.
If you get the “SIM locked” message, though, you’re out of luck and will need to find a way to unlock your phone – and here’s how.
What do I need to unlock my iPhone?
If you got your phone as part of a contract, the first step is to contact your mobile network and obtain a personal unblocking code (PUC). Most networks will provide this service for free after a certain time period, but if you want to unlock before your contract is up – or if you’re on a pay-as-you-go contract – you’ll probably need to shell out up to £20 for the privilege.
If you bought your phone second-hand, however, it’s a little trickier: if you can’t get the seller to unlock it for you, you may need to jump through some hoops. Certain networks, such as EE, do allow you to take second-hand phones to a store and get them unlocked, but other options such as using third-party websites or local mobile shops are entirely at your own risk (TOP TIP: the ever-helpful Giffgaff actually rates the unlocking services on their list alongside the mobile providers. Click here to check it out). If you can do it via a mobile network, then that’s by far your best bet – and it’s often cheaper, too.
Check out the details below for unlocking iPhones that are tied to the major UK mobile networks.
How to unlock your iPhone: Giffgaff
Giffgaff sell unlocked iPhones so, if you bought your phone from them, you’re FREE. Free as a bird. If, however, you’re on Giffgaff and the phone is locked to another provider, they offer an amazingly helpful iPhone “unlockapedia” that tells you how to go about unlocking any iPhone from the original iPhone all the way through to the iPhone 6 Plus – and from any network.
How to unlock your iPhone: Vodafone
If you’re a PAYG customer, you’ll need £20 credit on your account because the unlock fee is £19.99. You’ll also need to have been using your PAYG SIM for more than 30 days. If you’re a Pay Monthly customer and you’ve had your phone for more than 12 months, the unlock fee is waived. If not, the £19.99 fee applies, but you still have to have been a customer for three months and have paid all your bills to date. The process takes around 48 hours, and you’ll get an email to inform you once your device is unlocked.
How to unlock your iPhone: EE, Orange, T-Mobile
If you got your iPhone brand-new or through an upgrade on EE, Orange or T-Mobile, you can unlock it for £8.99 regardless of what type of contract you’re on. Pay Monthly customers need to have had their phone for at least six months (and used it actively with that SIM in that time), but PAYG customers can unlock it straight away, as long as it was locked to EE, Orange or T-Mobile in the first place. Anyone who fulfils these criteria can head on over to EE’s website and start the process straight away, but it takes up to ten days for the unlock to take effect.
How to unlock your iPhone: O2
PAYG customers can unlock their iPhone after 12 months – for a £15 fee. Pay Monthly customers can unlock their iPhones any time they wish to, though, and for free. Whichever camp you’re in, you can start the process by heading over to My O2 online or from the main menu of the My O2 app. Once the process is started, it’ll take up to 72 hours to take effect.
How to unlock your iPhone: Tesco Mobile
PAYG customers can unlock their phone for free once they’ve had their phone for 12 months, or pay £10 before the first year is up. Pay Monthly customers get free unlocking, but eligibility partly depends on whether a new version of the phone has recently released. The unlock process takes seven days, and you’ll need to call 0345 300 6660 to request the service because there’s no online alternative.
HOW TO BLOCK OFFENSIVE COMMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media sites are more popular than ever. It's estimated that by the year 2018 there will be 2.67 billion people on social networks worldwide. Over 68 percent of people with internet access were active on social media in 2016.
One downside of using social media sites is having to deal with internet trolls. They are people who post inflammatory comments looking to upset people or start arguments. The good news is there is a new tool that will help you kick those trolls to the curb.
Instagram has a new feature that will allow you to keep trolls from posting obnoxious comments on your pictures. The "keyword moderation tool" will automatically block comments containing specific words. You can use the default list of words provided by Instagram, or create your own list of words that you find offensive.
You won't be able to see comments posted on your photos that contain words on the list after you enable the feature. Only the person who wrote the offensive comments will see them. They will be invisible to everyone else.
Enabling the keyword moderation tool
Here is how you can start using the keyword moderation tool:
- Go to your Instagram Profile and click on the Options menu.
- Click on "Comments."
- Select "Hide Inappropriate Comments." This will block all comments with words found on Instagram's standard keyword list.
- There is also a custom keywords section where you can add more words that you find offensive. Just type them into that section and separate each word or phrase with a comma.
- Hashtags, numbers, phrases and even emojis can be added to the custom keyword filter.
- Once you have enabled this feature, all comments that contain words from your list will be hidden. This includes both new and old posts. If later you turn the filter off or take out some of the custom keywords, comments that include those keywords will be visible again to everyone.Instagram has other tools to try and protect its clients from abuse. You are able to block accounts, report offensive comments and even swipe to delete comments.
